UCD Psychology Study- would your child like to do science from home? Participate in this study to receive a 5 euro National Book Token           12/07/2022 16:27 - Learning and Fun Initiatives during coronavirus ----------------------------------- We are currently researching ways to promote inclusive peacebuilding among primary school children living in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We want to explore how children’s individual traits (empathy, attitudes, self-efficacy) and family influences (social identity, cultural socialisation) relate to their helping and sharing behaviours towards children from different groups, including those from different geographic regions (North/South), nationalities (Irish/British), community backgrounds (Protestant/Catholic), and understudied ethnic minority groups (Travellers, refugees).
We would like to invite children aged 7-11 years to play a series of games and answer a few questions during a 15-minute Zoom session with a trained research assistant. You will accompany your child during this virtual meeting and no identifying information will be gathered during any of the games. We would just like to know what your child thinks about different symbols and images and what they think about children from other ethnic groups. Participating parents will also be asked to complete a short questionnaire about themselves and their child to allow us to further explore how both individual factors and family transmission influences children’s behaviours.
There are no right or wrong answers to any of the games, and at the end you can submit your email address to receive a €5 National Book Token. You will also have the option to print a personalised child scientist certificate for your child! We would be incredibly grateful for parents/guardians allowing their child to partake in this study. If interested, all you need to do is follow the below link to our Consent Form for more information and to schedule a Zoom meeting time that suits yourself and your child best:
