CUS Sports Grounds Bird Avenue

We live in D9, my 12-yr-old is starting the CUS rugby camp on Monday. I´ll drive him down to Bird Ave, but wondering if he could take the No.11 home. The bus stop seems to be far enough from the CUS grounds. Anyone with experience? Thank you.
Also, he is playing gaelic and has no intention to do rugby for any longer that is absolutely necessary. He has astro shoes, will I need to buy rugby shoes too?
